NY Man Likens Circumcision To Genital Mutilation

From the Wallstreet Journal:  “NEW YORK — A 46-year-old New York man who’s a member of an activist group against circumcision likens the routine practice to female genital mutilation.

Anthony Losquadro (loh-SQUAD’-roh) recently contacted the pediatrician who circumcised him in 1965 and accused the doctor of coercing his parents to approve the procedure.

He tells the New York Post (http://nyp.st/tPIgqZ) that it’s his body and he should have had a choice as to what was done.

Losquadro leads a nonprofit group to get his message out online and through an ad campaign

About half of babies born in the United States are circumcised. In general, Jewish boys are ritually circumcised when they are a week old.”

nthony Losquadro is right, his body IS his body. No one should have circumcised him; a permanent violation to his body which should never have occurred.  Think about it, if this world was an intact world, and genital cutting was never heard of…what reaction do you think everyone would have if a doctor recommended routine genital cutting to curb masturbation?  It is likely that every sane person would get angry and the doctor would lose his license.

Routine infant circumcision is unnecessary.  If everyone would just sit down and truly think about it, they would ‘get it’ and end it.  Taking a scalpel to a boy’s foreskin, slicing it off, after tearing the adhesions free from the head of the penis and then crushing the blood flow from the penis to the foreskin with a clamp is inhumane.  It’s time to end this practice forever.  If boys were meant to have a foreskin, they’d be born with one…and they ARE born with one – so leave it be.

  1. Yes, it is genital mutilation. And the more times it is compare to that, the more people will realize it, and the less it will be done! This insane procedure must end, and it continues to amaze me how stubborn people are when it comes to trying to educate them. They cling to their stubborn ignorance like a damn life raft…as if they will drown if they admit they are wrong. UGH!

  2. The word “mutilation” is so loaded that it creates more heat than light, but nobody can deny circumcision is male genital cutting. In 2010, the AAP proposed to allow a token, ritual nick to girls “much less extensive than neonatla male genital cutting” but the backlash made them back down within a month. Why the double standard? “Bioethicist” Douglas Diekema continued to defend the proposal, and he chairs the AAP’s taskforce on circumcision….
